After Portsmouth scored three runs in the top of the first, Barrington battled back and scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Aaron Brady got it started with a single. After walks to Jack Kriz and David Raposa, Joey Medeiros hit a clutch single to left to score Brady and Kriz. David Raposa then scored on groundball to first off the bat of Jacob Koble.

Barrington scored another run in the second inning on an RBI double by Jack Kriz to score Aaron Brady. In the fourth, Barrington powered to three more runs, as Andy Fletcher and Sam Faulkner hit singles, Aaron Brady drew a walk, and Jack Kriz cracked a single to left to score two runs. Brady then scored on a wild pitch to give Barrington a 7-3 lead.
Andy Fletcher pitched a complete game, giving up no further runs after the first inning. He mixed his pitches well, striking out seven and walking only one batter.

Barrington manager Chris Abadi was pleased with his team's performance against the tough Portsmouth squad.

"It was nice to get the win against a strong Portsmouth team as Portsmouth has knocked Barrington out of the 12U tourney the last 2 years," Abadi wrote in a recent email. "We continue to play great team baseball with everyone having a role and contributing. We are looking forward to a matchup on Thursday at home against a tough Darlington team."

The win advanced Barrington to an elimination bracket finals against Darlington on Thursday, July 14. The game will be played at Sherwood Field at 5:45 p.m.

Darlington dropped into the elimination bracket after losing to Middletown 7-6 on Tuesday night. Middletown, which beat Barrington 14-9 earlier in the District II tournament, remains undefeated and awaits the winner of the Barrington-Darlington match-up.
