Home alone, 11-year-old boy thought his toe was broken

Barrington police officers and firefighters were called to a West Barrington home at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, after an 11-year-old boy called the department for a medical situation.

The boy, who was home alone at the time, told officials he had stubbed his toe and thought the toe was broken.

The boy said his mother was working, so police called the boy's aunt, who asked the officers not to transport the juvenile to the hospital. She said she would stop by the house and take the boy to the pediatrician's office.
