Henry F. Lombardi, Sr., 91, of Middletown

Henry F. Lombardi, Sr., 91, of Middletown, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital of Fall River, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Frances V. (Bottiglieri) Lombardi for 65 years. 

Henry was born in Barrington. He was the son of Pietro and Giovannina (Conti) Lombardi.

Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Henry F. Lombardi, Jr. and his wife C. Lyn, and Paul A. Lombardi, all of Middletown. He also leaves three beloved grandchildren, C. Patrick Lombardi, C. Tara Lombardi and Sara Lombardi, all of Middletown.

Henry was one of 17 children, he is survived by Nora Silva of Seekonk, Mass., Phyllis Oliver of Barrington, Julia LaFlamme of Bristol, and Inez Neveaux of Warren.

Henry worked for many years with the Newport Housing Authority as a painter and at the Doubletree Hotel on Goat Island as a security officer. He was a diehard Red Sox Fan and loved the New England Patriots. He loved to grow things and took great pride in his garden, especially his fig tree. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and took them for long walks and cooked their favorite dishes whenever he knew they would be coming to visit. Henry was also an Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday in St. Lucy’s Church, 990 West Main Road, Middletown, RI. Burial with military honors followed at St. Columba’s Catholic Cemetery in Middletown.
