Isabelle “Marty” (Gaum) Kee, 85, of Barrington, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 surrounded by her family after battling ovarian cancer. She was the wife of Thomas C. Kee and daughter to Leong Bing Gaum and Moy Shee Yet. Born in Boston, she was the youngest of seven sisters, who grew up working in their parents’ restaurant near Fenway Park. After earning a bachelor of science in business education from Boston University in 1954, she taught high school English and business in Ashland, NH and Shrewsbury, Mass.
Marty was a longtime member of Rhode Island Country Club, where she enjoyed playing golf, tennis and paddle tennis. She was an active member of the Barrington Congregational Church and volunteered for various organizations including Tap-In and International House. Marty cherished her get-togethers with her dear friends “The Needlers” and enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time at the family home on Cape Cod.
Besides Tom, her best friend and husband of 59 years, she leaves one son and two daughters: Kenneth Kee of Barrington, Kimberly Kee Hollister and her husband Dan of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Kara Kee Borah and her husband David of Needham, Mass. She was the the grandmother of Daniel and Isabelle Borah. She also leaves five sisters: Rosely Gaum of Chestnut Hill, Mass.; Anna Moy of Orlando, Fla.; Lillian Wu of Ossining, NY; Jennie Ahern of Lexington, Mass.; and Claire Toy of Philadelphia, Pa. Marty was predeceased by her sister Eveline Lee.
