An officer was on routine patrol in the Bay Spring area of town at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 28 when he noticed a home on Allen Avenue where the front door was open.
The officer approached the home and knocked on the door, but no one answered.
The officer then went inside the home and found that the kitchen light was on and there was a pellet gun on the floor of the home; the gun appeared to have been modified with a cut-off stock.
The officer announced his presence in the home and asked if anyone was there, but no one answered. The officer could smell the odor of burnt marijuana, but found no evidence of anyone living in the house full-time.
