Portsmouth police respond twice to same party house

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth Police report from over the past week.

Tuesday, July 5

Erik N. Anderson, 48, of 75 Markwood Road, Barrington, was charged at 11:45 p.m. on a bench warrant issued by 2nd District Court. Police said they found Mr. Anderson hiding behind a shower curtain in a bathtub after they responded to a Mason Avenue home for a report of a domestic assault that had just taken place. According to police, Mr. Anderson, who was not the suspect, said he was hiding because he doesn’t like the police. The warrant was issued for failure to appear for a court arraignment, police said.

Friday, July 8

Keith B. Rinier, 61, of 84 Unity Drive, Middletown, was charged with being a fugitive from justice shortly after midnight. A patrol officer spotted Mr. Rinier walking in the southbound lane of East Main Road near Agway. Mr. Rinier, who had multiple cuts and bruises on his arms, legs and back and was unsteady on his feet, said he was walking to his Middletown home. Mr Rinier said he had been drinking with friends when things got out of hand and he was beaten up, according to police. Police said there was an active full extradition National Crime Information Center (NCIC) warrant for Mr. Rinier’s arrest out of New Jersey.

Police investigated a report of a boat that had washed ashore in front of a Heidi Drive residence. The six-foot gray Apex inflatable, with a small Yamaha outboard motor attached, had been partially submerged before a homeowner bailed all the water out, police said. It was later determined that the inflatable had come loose from a sailboat, Full Circle, that had earlier become stuck on the rocks in Little Compton.

Sunday, July 10

Madison L. Payseur, 19, of 525 Middle Road, was charged shortly after midnight with underage possession of alcohol and purchasing or procuring alcohol for a minor. Police made the arrest after responding to a Middle Road home for a report of a party that possibly involved underage drinking. Police said it was the second time they had responded to the home that night. Police spoke with Ms. Payseur, who told them they could not enter the home without a warrant. Police told her to remove any remaining alcohol from inside the home, and she dumped a cooler filled with Del’s Lemonade Shandy out, police said. Two other juvenile females, ages 16 and 17, were charged with disorderly conduct after they ran out a back door and into a neighbor’s yard. Both of them smiled for their booking photos.

Maher Z. Shehadeh, 41, of 21 Willow Lane, was charged with driving with an expired license after his car was stopped on West Main Road around 1 p.m. because it had an expired inspection sticker.
