Arts Alive! production features Primrose Hill students

A talented cast of students from Primrose Hill School will bring Annie Kids to the stage this weekend.

Arts Alive! will host a performance on Friday, Jan. 19, at 6:30 p.m., and a second show on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 12:30 p.m. Both performances will be at Barrington High School.

“Annie has been a family favorite since it first opened on Broadway in 1977," said Pete Bilderback, the president of Arts Alive!'s board of directors, "its positive message appealing to youth and adults alike."

Annie Kids is the first production of the 2018 season for Arts Alive!

Dena Davis, the artistic director for Arts Alive, said audience members should be prepared for an entertaining production.

“It’s always a fun challenge for a production team to take a classic show and put our own unique twist on it," she said. "We have an exceptionally talented cast this year and I think audiences will thoroughly enjoy seeing so many young artists shine (and in some cases, very nearly blow the roof off with their vocals)!

"Audiences can expect many endearing moments, a lot of laughs and a few surprises- bet’cha bottom dollar! This will be the third production I have directed at Primrose Hill school. It has been a pleasure to work with such a well behaved, respectful and dedicated group of children. It certainly makes our jobs a pleasure! We are extremely proud of this group of young artists.”

Tickets for Annie Kids are available online at artsalivebarrington.org for $7 with reserved seating, or at the door before each performance.

In addition, audience members may purchase tickets for the raffle of a Broadway Weekend Getaway for two at every show. At $10 per ticket, the winner of the grand prize gets to choose two tickets to a Broadway show (Wicked, Dear Evan Hansen, or The Lion King), with flexible dates through Oct. 31. The prize includes a two-night stay at a 4-star hotel in Times Square, and a $100 Visa card. The drawing will be held on June 10, after the final performance of the Hampden Meadows School show of Beauty and the Beast Jr. at Barrington High School. The winner will not need to be present at the drawing to win.
