It was a two-point game at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the gap was 21.
The Barrington High School boys basketball team was unable to battle back from a slow second quarter and lost to LaSalle, 78-67, in the State Tournament semifinals at URI’s Ryan Center on Saturday night, March 16.
Barrington held the lead early in the game. Matt Raffa knocked down a jump-shot and Nick Scandura hit a three-pointer to give Barrington an early 5-1 edge. Evan Anderson, Colin McDermott and Caleb Satisfield also contributed to the scoring early for the Eagles.
Satisfield’s basket gave Barrington a 14-13 lead with 1:10 left in the first quarter. But LaSalle then went on a 32-10 run through the end of the first quarter and the entire second and held a 45-24 lead at halftime.
The Eagles cut the LaSalle lead to 16 by the end of the third quarter and drew as close as 10 points in the fourth, but were unable to narrow the margin any further.
LaSalle will play against Classical in the Championship game on Sunday, March 17.
