Eagles defeat Avengers, 3-0, in Division I semifinals

Posted

Maddie Cox scored two goals and assisted on a third, leading the Barrington High School field hockey team to a 3-0 victory over East Greenwich in a Division I semifinal game at Bryant University on Thursday night, Nov. 1.

Barrington opened the scoring in the first half, when Cox pushed the ball into the back of the Avengers' goal.

Cox's second goal came on a rebound after East Greenwich goalie Jessie Imbriglio stopped another Barrington shot.

Noelle Texeira finished out the Eagles' scoring when she deflected a shot from Cox with about four minutes remaining in the game.

Barrington's Caileigh Durkin played well in net and helped preserve the shutout victory.

Barrington will face a familiar foe in the Division I finals — the Eagles will play against Moses Brown at noon on Sunday, Nov. 4.
