The Barrington High School girls' team placed sixth overall at the state track championship behind junior Katie Zitzmann, who took third in the 800-meter race and fourth in the 1,500-meter racer, as well as fourth in the 4x100-meter relay and sixth in the 4x400-meter.
In the hammer throw, third- and fourth-place finishes by junior Faith Polando and sophomore Annika Kelly, respectfully, also bolstered Barrington’s point total.
The Barrington boys' track team ran to a 13th place finish at states and celebrated a number of strong performances. Mars Bishop earned All-State honors for his third place finish in the 800-meter race. He earned an invitation to compete at the New England championships in Norwell, Mass. on Saturday. Fellow Barrington runner Hayden Ivatts qualified to compete in the 1,600.
Also, Barrington's 4x400 relay team, comprised of Bishop, Ivatts, Jamie Gunness and George Wicker, finished fifth at states and will race at New Englands. Gunness, Eliot Laidlaw, Eli Mitnick and Wicker finished fourth in the 4x800 and will also run at New Englands.
