The Barrington Juniors Division All-Star team defeated Pineview 8-3 in a winner-take-all District II championship game on Monday night, July 16.

Sam Faulkner pitched 6 and one-third innings, allowing just two hits and one run. He also struck out four Pineview batters, and made some nice defensive plays from the mound.

Barrington's defense was a key to the victory — JT Celico and Harrison Cooley made nice plays in the field, and Bryan Ivatts and Andrew Lapointe did a nice job sharing catching duties.

The offense was led by Ned Shapiro, who had four hits, and Celico, who finished with three hits. Joe Medeiros had three runs batted in; Andy Fletcher had a single, two walks and scored twice; and Cooley had an important two-out, two-run single.

Barrington will represent District II in the state tournament, which will be played in Cumberland. The first game is Saturday, July 21.
