Two Barrington students qualify for nationals

Posted

Eleven Barrington Middle School students participated in the state MathCounts competition late last month at CCRI.

The Barrington team finished third in the state, but was the top scoring public school at the competition. First place went to Gordon School, while Wheeler finished second.

The group of the top eight individual students in the state included three Barrington Middle School students — seventh-grader Kyan Nguyen, and eighth-graders Marie Choi-Schattle and Kamren Pahlavi.

The top eight students face off in a Jeopardy-style showdown at the end of the MathCounts competition. Marie finished first in the state in that portion of the contest, and finished third overall. Kamren was fourth overall — the top four students in the state are invited to compete at nationals in Orland, Fla. this week.
