The Barrington Middle School art department will host the Empty Bowls event, a night of music, art and community service, on Thursday, June 2, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Dozens of middle school students created the ceramic bowls — for a suggested donation of $5, people can select one of the bowls. All proceeds from the event will be given to Tap-In, a nonprofit agency that serves people in need across the East Bay.
The Empty Bowls event will also feature performances by the Barrington Middle School Jazz and pops band, a cappella singers, and the sixth grade chorus.
“Art students have made ceramic bowls throughout the year as a reminder of the many empty bowls that exist in households around the world as many families fight hunger,” stated a press release about the event.
