Five members of the Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams were named to the 2017 All-ACC Outdoor Track and Field Academic Team. Among the selections was Barrington's Charlie Ionata.

Ionata, who graduated in May with a degree in sociology, is receiving the All-ACC Outdoor Academic team honor for the second time in his career. Ionata broke his own school record in the hammer throw early in the season and continued to improve as the season continued. Ionata was named to the All-ACC Indoor Track and Field Academic team earlier this season.

He graduated Wake Forest this year, and recently entered an accelerated Master’s program at Wake Forest.

He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
