Adam Kelly challenges Olympian Rudy Winkler

Posted

Barrington High School graduate and Princeton University junior Adam Kelly had five straight hammer throws surpassing his previous personal best while competing at the recent Sam Howell Invitational.

Adam had five throws over 70 meters — 71.87, 71.92, 71.50, 70.84 and 70.44. Adam's throw of 71.92 meters ranks him fifth nationally and is the second best in program history and third best in the Ivy League all-time.

"Adam had a breakthrough meet," said Princeton head coach Fred Samara. "It wasn't just a huge PR throw but five throws over his PR."

Adam finished just four inches shy of matching the lead of Olympian Rudy Winkler, who now competes for Rutgers University.
