Church to host Easter egg hunt and festival

The BridgePointe Christian Church in East Providence will host an egg hunt and family festival at Barrington High School on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. The event is open to the public. There will be an egg hunt for children ages pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, bounce houses, free popcorn, lemonade, an Easter bunny and games. The church will also sponsor events at Providence Country Day School and Crescent Park Carousel during the same time period on Saturday. Go to www.bridgepointechristian.com/egghunt for free tickets.

Congressman is coming to Barrington next week

U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline will host a community conversation in Barrington on Wednesday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Barrington High School. The congressman will reportedly open up the conversation with a few remarks about his recent work in Washington, D.C., and then open it up to questions from the audience. 

Public works closing early on Friday

The Barrington Department of Public Works office on Upland Way will close at 11 a.m. and the Recycling Center will close at noon in observance of Good Friday on April 14. There will be regular recycling and rubbish collections on Good Friday.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
