Barrington Police broke up two underage drinking parties last week.
On Friday night, July 28, police received a tip that a group of teenagers were partying in the woods behind the Bayside YMCA.
Officers responded to that area at about 9 p.m. and located a group of five teenagers. Police later charged a 16-year-old Barrington boy with possession of alcoholic beverage by underage person-first offense, and possession of marijuana under the age of 18. Police then called the teenagers’ parents.
About 45 minutes later, police responded to Barrington Beach after learning that there was a large group of teenagers partying there.
Officers located the teens — police identified 22 juveniles. Police said the teens had been attending a summer camp program at RISD and decided to get together for a party at the beach on the last night. Police located some alcohol nearby, but no one was charged.
