Barrington police are investigating the apparent theft of a puppy from a vehicle parked outside the Barrington Senior Center.

According to officials, a 28-year-old Riverside resident had left her 10-week-old pit bull-bull dog mix inside her car while she went into Tap-In on Thursday, Sept. 7. She told police she left her windows cracked.

When she returned from Tap-In 30 minutes later, the puppy was gone. A worker at the senior center told police he had seen the dog running loose in the parking lot; he also spotted two teenagers catch the dog.

A woman who was with the teenagers reportedly told the senior center worker that she was going to bring the puppy to the ASPCA in Providence.

Police tried to track down the individuals who caught the dog, but were unable to do so. Officers later called the dog's rightful owner, who said she had gotten her puppy back and did not want to press charges.
