Barrington Police Chief John LaCross is thanking media outlets across the state for the role they played in helping officials track down a woman wanted for allegedly stealing air conditioners.
Chief LaCross said his department shared with the media images of the suspect who allegedly stole six air conditioners from the Shaw's Supermarket in Barrington recently. Shortly after the television stations and newspapers reported on the incident and posted images of the suspect, police received a tip.
Police followed the tip and on Thursday, May 11, police arrested Kerriane Bettencourt, 39, of Warren. Officials have charged Ms. Bettencourt with shoplifting-felony.
Police said they were unable to locate any of the stolen air conditioners.
