Barrington students ace computer contest
Local team tops 15 others from across the state
A team of Barrington High School students brought home the title from the 31st annual Providence College Computer Programming Contest.
Barrington High School’s winning team, coached by Mario Correia, included sophomore Daniel Sheinberg, senior William Yao, junior Conor McGartoll, and junior Eliot Laidlaw.
The contest is sponsored by PC's student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery and the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. PC’s computer programming contest requires teams to work as a unit to complete a minimum of seven problems. The team solving the highest number of problems wins and in the case of a tie, the team taking the least accumulated time wins.
Barrington's team rolled past the 15 other teams representing high schools from across the region.
