A team of Barrington High School students will battle for the top spot in the upcoming High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island competition.
Daniel Sheinberg, Michael Lamontagne, Christina Curran, Clara Klugler, Brendan Fay and Jonny Zhang captured the top seed during the "Super Sunday Qualifying Quiz" on Sunday, Oct. 15.
The Eagles, who are coached by Sam Schachter and Bob Marley, will square off against a team from Exeter-West Greenwich in a quarterfinal match on Saturday, Nov. 11.
The winner advances to the semifinals, which will be held on Sunday, Nov. 12. All rounds of the competition will be taped and then aired on Rhode Island PBS in the spring.
Other teams to qualify for the quarterfinals include Lincoln High School, Classical, Bishop Hendricken, Lincoln School, Mt. St. Charles, and LaSalle Academy.
The tournament is single elimination and features four rounds of competition — toss-up round, head-to-head round, category round, and the lightning round.
Organizers for the competition strongly encourage the high school teams to invite guests — cheerleading squads, school mascots and fellow students. The general public is also invited to attend.
