Police: 18-year-old caught selling Xanax
Barrington police charged Nicolaus R. Hewitt with possession of a controlled substance (Xanax) and manufacture/possession/ delivery of a controlled substance.
Police say the 18-year-old Barrington resident — he lives at 11 Walker Farm Lane — was sitting in a pickup truck with another individual at about noon on Monday, Jan. 30 when a Barrington police officer approached the vehicle.
Police say Mr. Hewitt appeared very nervous; the officer could also allegedly smell the odor of burnt marijuana. A search of both individuals inside the vehicle revealed that Mr. Hewitt had in his possession two Xanax pills, said police. Officials said the teenager did not have a prescription for the medication. A bottle of prescription cough syrup was also found.
Police charged Mr. Hewitt and a judge sent him to the ACI for a two-week stay.
