Sixteen-year-old boy facing possession charge

Posted

At about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, Barrington police received a call from a town employee who was working at Haines Park, after that employee saw six teenagers enter the woods.

At first, one car pulled into a parking lot at Haines, and two teens exited the vehicle and walked into the woods. A short time later, a second vehicle pulled into the lot and four more teenagers walked into the woods.

The police officers searched the woods and eventually located the teenagers sitting near an old fire pit in the woods. Police said two of the teenagers — a 16-year-old Barrington male and an 18-year-old Barrington male — were in possession of marijuana.

Police charged the 16-year-old with possession of marijuana by a person under 18. Police issued the 18-year-old a civil summons for possession of marijuana.
