Barrington boys' tennis team's record is 2-2

Barrington improved to 4-0 after wins over Rogers, 79.5-74.5, and St. Raphael's, 116.5-24.5, on Monday, April 11.

Barrington had a number of first place finishers in the dual meet. Eliot Laidlaw won the 3,000-meter race and the 800-meter race, while Sam Read was first in the 100 and 200. Josh Meranda won the 300 hurdles and the 110 hurdles and George Wicker won the 1,500. Barrington's 4x400-meter relay team of Laidlaw, Eli Mitnick, Jamie Gunness and Wicker won, as did Barrington's 4x100 relay team of Meranda, Evan Pomfret, Sanni Harder and Read. Jack Dunn won the hammer with a top throw of 154 feet, 7 inches. 

Last week Barrington opened the regular season schedule with wins over LaSalle 82-63, and Portsmouth 94.5-5.

Sam Read won the 100-meter race with a time of 11.5 seconds and also captured first place in the 200 with a time of 24.2 seconds. Josh Roy won the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 1.25 inches and was second in the high jump. Josh Meranda won the triple jump with a distance of 36 feet, 10.5 inches, and Barrington's 4x100 relay team of Meranda, Evan Pomfret, Harder and Read won. 

Boys' tennis

The Barrington High School boys' tennis team slipped to 2-2 after a 4-3 loss to Smithfield on Monday. Barrington's wins came from Owen Voigt at first singles, Story Salit at third singles and the third doubles team of Emilio Cuebas and Kevin Zhu.

Barrington also fell 4-3 to Mt. St. Charles on Wednesday, April 5. The Eagles won one singles match, as Voigt defeated Jacob Lawrence 7-5, 6-2. The second doubles team of Conner Heliet and Brian Donahue won its match, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 over Shaan Arora and Anuj Swaminathan, and the Eagles' third doubles team of Kevin Zhu and Matt Brenner won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 over Justin Aquilante and Cameron Pouliot.

Girls' lacrosse

The Eagles opened the season with a 11-4 win over Cumberland High School on Friday, April 7. Barrington is 1-0 in the division, while the Clippers slipped to 0-2.
