Barrington residents lined up early to cast their ballots at the Barrington Middle School and other polling locations on Tuesday morning, Nov. 6.  

Election officials across the state were anticipating large voter turnout this year, despite a forecast of rain.

Here is a closer look at the races in Barrington:

Town council — The race for two open town council seats features three candidates. Michael Carroll, a Democrat who currently serves as Barrington Town Council president, is running for re-election. Stephen Primiano, a Republican who has served on the council for multiple terms, is also running. Jacob Brier, a Democrat, is also running for one of the two available council seats.

School committee — Four people are running for three open school committee seats. The race features three first-time candidates — Democrats Patrick McCrann, Erika Sevetson and Gina Bae — and one incumbent, Republican John Alessandro. Two of the school committee seats are for full four-year terms, while one of the seats is an unexpired two-year term. The top two vote-getters in the election will be awarded the four-year term seats, while the third place finishers will be given the two-year seat.

RI House, District 66 — Democrat Liana Cassar is squaring off against Republican Rhonda Holmes. 

RI House, District 67 — The race for the District 67 seat in the Rhode Island House features Democrat Jason Knight and Libertarian candidate Daryl Gould.

RI Senate, District 32 — Democrat Sen. Cynthia Coyne is running against Republican David Aucoin for the District 32 seat in the Rhode Island Senate.

Town moderator — Julia Califano is running unopposed for the town moderator position. Ms. Califano is a Democrat.
