Camper vandalized in Barrington, police ID suspect

Police question Barrington man about incident on Anoka Avenue

Posted

A Barrington resident called police on Thursday, Dec. 6, after he discovered that his camper had been vandalized.

The camper, which was parked on the resident's property on Anoka Avenue, had been broken into and the interior was a mess. Police said it appeared someone had defecated and urinated inside the camper. There was also a strong odor of vomit throughout the camper, said police.

The Anoka Avenue resident said he did not hear anything during the overnight hours that would have alerted him to the break-in.

Police were able to take fingerprints off the camper.

Shortly after responding to the camper break-in, police officers were called to a man who was found passed out behind some shops on County Road.

The man told police he was homeless and officers asked him if he had spent the previous night inside a camper on Anoka Avenue. The man said he had been in Warren the previous night. Rescue workers transported the man to the hospital for evaluation.

Police are currently checking to see if the prints taken from the camper match those of the man who was found passed out.
