Barrington police are investigating a pair of car break-ins that occurred in the parking lot outside the Bayside YMCA on Tuesday morning, Jan. 16.
Police said a thief or thieves targeted two cars parked in the lot — they broke the vehicles' windows and stole items that had been left in the cars. Barrington Police Chief John LaCross said a purse, wallets, credit cards, clothing, cell phones and other items were stolen.
One of the vehicles belonged to a Barrington woman, while the other belonged to a East Providence woman.
Police said the incident occurred during daylight hours — it was reported at about 11:40 a.m.
On Jan. 11, some residents living on Alfred Drown Road, Washington Road, Anthony Road and Mosher Drive discovered that items had been stolen from their vehicles. The vehicles had all been unlocked during the incidents — none of the vehicles had been damaged.
