Seniors have worked hard their whole lives and deserve peace and security in their golden years. Working to do what we can to support seniors has been a priority for me since I served as the Barrington Town Council’s liaison to the Senior Services Advisory Board, and that commitment continues now as your state senator.
Many seniors live on a fixed income or rely upon loved ones for assistance in some matters, which is why we eliminated taxes on Social Security and the first $15,000 in retirement income. It is also why this year I sponsored legislation that established a special task force to address elderly abuse and financial exploitation.
Whether its restoring free RIPTA bus passes for low-income seniors and disabled individuals, or doubling funding for local senior centers and the invaluable services they provide, I have been proud to work to help seniors at the Statehouse.
