There will be a special Hurricane Harvey relief effort dinner and silent auction at Barrington High School on Thursday, Oct. 12. The event will run from 6 to 9 p.m., and all proceeds will benefit a school hit hard by the hurricane — a former Barrington High School teacher is currently working at the Houston school.
Sasha Blake used to teach at Barrington High School, but relocated to Texas. Now she teaches at a school near Houston. When Hurricane Harvey hit, Ms. Blake's school was devastated by ensuing flood.
"Many people lost everything," said Patrick Scott, a teacher at Barrington High School who helped plan the fund-raising dinner. "We had to help."
Mr. Scott worked with other teachers and students in the Interact group, student council and Chain Reaction group. Organizers say Leon's restaurant will cater the dinner. The silent auction will include a trip to Cape Cod, a trip to Nantucket, dinners in Newport, Boston Red Sox tickets and more.
Admission to the dinner is $10 per person, and tickets are being sold at the high school or at the dinner.
