Eagles tie game on late three-pointer, defeat Mariners in OT

The Barrington High School boys basketball team defeated Narragansett 71-66 in an overtime thriller on Tuesday night, Dec. 18.

The Eagles led the Mariners 29-26 at halftime, but found themselves trailing late in the second half. Barrington's Brendan Conaty drilled a three-pointer with time running down to tie the score at 57-57 and force overtime. 

In the extra session, Barrington outscored Narragansett 14-9 and walked away with the 71-66 victory. The Eagles' Will Rywolt scored seven points in overtime and finished the game with 29 points, including 4 three-pointers.

Conaty also knocked down 4 three-pointers and finished with 20 points. Ryan Bonneau scored 11 points for the Eagles and Ben Silvia added 10. 

The victory pushed Barrington's record to 2-0 in the league and 3-0 overall. 

Previous games

The Eagles opened their regular season with a 74-68 win over Middletown on Friday, Dec. 14. Rywolt scored 21 points and Conaty added 19 to pace Barrington's offensive effort. Other Barrington scorers included Bonneau, who dropped in 12 points, and Silvia, who finished with 10 points.

Barrington also played in the St. Andrew's Holiday Classic basketball tournament. On Sunday, Dec. 16, the Eagles defeated Coyle and Cassidy, 56-46.

Barrington will travel to Juanita Sanchez on Friday night, Dec. 21.
