Edward F. Chellel, O.D., 95, of Barrington

Edward F. Chellel, O.D., age 95, of Barrington, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Cecelia (Brunelli) Chellel, with whom he had shared 66 years of marriage.

Born in Barrington, a son of the late Frank D. and Rose (Aureilo) Chellel, he was a life-long resident of Barrington.

Dr. Chellel served in the United States Navy during World War II and later graduated from Northern Illinois College of Optometry obtaining a Doctorate in Optometry. He was an optometrist for many years before retiring.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Sandra Chellel of Bristol and Tucson, Ariz. and Dianne Chellel Riley and her husband Thomas Riley of West Newton, Mass.; three grandchildren, Nathan, Spencer and Cameron Riley; several nieces, nephews and many cousins.

He was the brother of the late Ann Chellel DeAngelis. 

His funeral will be held Friday, June 1, at 9 a.m. from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Ave., Barrington. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. For tributes or directions visit www.wilbur-romano.com
