Fire department: Candle sparks fire inside home

Posted

Barrington firefighters responded to a fire inside a multi-family home on Maple Avenue on Thursday night, April 11.

The fire department received the call at 7:08 p.m. and responded to the scene. Meanwhile police officers helped reroute traffic away from a section of Maple Avenue near Holy Angels Church.

Barrington Fire Department Captain Jason Fanion said the call sounded very serious, but crews were able to quickly gain control of the fire.

Capt. Fanion said the fire started inside the second floor apartment — something that was placed on top of a candle caught fire and the blaze then spread to a wall.

Capt. Fanion said the family inside the apartment was able to get out safely.

"Everyone's all right," he added.
