A house in Barrington that is listed for sale was targeted by thieves who reportedly cut and removed all the copper pipes from the home.
The house's owner contacted police on Friday, Oct. 13, after discovering the missing pipes. The house, which is located on Maple Avenue, had been shown multiple times over the previous weekend.
Stolen copper pipe is often sold for scrap, which was likely the same fate for more than a dozen manhole covers stolen in Barrington recently. The manhole covers had been left on the side of roads all across Barrington as crews prepared to repave the roadways. But before the manhole covers could be replaced on the finished surfaces, someone stole them.
Some of the manhole covers went missing from Anoka Avenue, which is located near Maple Avenue.
