The Barrington Firefighters Local 1774's annual "Fill the Boot Drive" to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association will take place on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Local firefighters will be stationed in front of the Barrington Shopping Center from 8 a.m. to noon.

"The Firefighters Local 1774 union runs this fund-raising event year after year while off duty, volunteering their time to raise funds for this worthy cause, so that the MDA can continue to fund research, provide assistance and help improve the lives of people fighting this terrible disease," stated a press release.

Last year, the Barrington Firefighters Local 1774 collected nearly $4,500 during their Fill the Boot Drive, and the firefighters are hoping to raise $5,000 this year.

"We invite you to come down to Barrington Shopping Center and drop a dollar in the boot," stated the release.

The rain date for the fund-raiser is Saturday, Sept. 16.
