Inspectors start their rounds for Barrington reval

Town-wide revaluation is state-mandated

Posted

The town recently started a state-mandated statistical revaluation. This revaluation includes an effective assessment date of Dec. 31, 2017.

Northeast Revaluation Group, LLC, out of Warwick, is once again assisting the town's tax assessor in arriving at new assessments. Field work by Northeast involves a physical inspection of all sales from 2015, 2016, and 2017, after which the same inspectors will be checking all outstanding building permits.

Unless a home was sold in the past three years, or is someone has an outstanding permit, the inspectors will not be completing an interior inspection of the home.

Inspectors are in the field starting in the Bay Spring area and will work their way southerly to Nayatt, then to Rumstick, Adams Point and then heading north to the rest of town.

If someone is not home, the inspector will leave a sticker on the door asking the homeowner to call Northeast for an inspection.

The field inspectors have been cleared by the Barrington Police Department and criminal background checks have been completed.

The police department has a list of the inspectors, their cars, registrations, and a physical description of each inspector.

If you have any questions, feel free to call the Tax Assessor’s Office at 247-1900 ext. 3 or you can call Northeast Revaluation at 737-0300.

The last full revaluation was completed three years ago with an effective date of Dec. 31, 2014.
