Jean E. Allen, 81, died Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of Robert J. Allen with whom she celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on Oct. 20, 2017.

Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Richard A. and Florence L. (MacDonald) Scarbrough.

Jean worked as a title examiner for Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company. She was active in the music ministry of her church as a member of the Chancel Choir and the Celebration Ringers Bell Choir. She was a member and past president of Pawtucket Assembly No. 217, Social Order of the Beauceant.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children: Linda J. Edward of Newport, Robert J. Allen and Joan E. Allen; five grandchildren: Heidi Andrews (husband Zach), Lillian Christy (husband James), Michael Allen, Ilesha Edward and Eric Edward, and six great-grandchildren: Talia, Keira, Isaac, Sarah, Nora and Lily. She was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Merrill.

Calling hours will be held at Evangelical Covenant Church, 841 North Main Street, Attleboro, Mass. on Tuesday, May 22 from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Her funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday beginning at noon. A collation will immediately follow the conclusion of the service. Her burial will take place after the collation and will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Governor Bradford Road, Barrington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts, designated to the music ministry, may be sent to the Evangelical Covenant Church of Attleboro. Condolences may be offered and memories shared also online at www.carpenterjenks.com.
