Judith Anne Marecki, of Barrington

Judith Anne Marecki, a longtime resident of Barrington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence.

The daughter of Miles and Patricia Preskitt, Judy was born on July 11, 1944 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa and received her nursing degree from Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. She went on to work as a nurse at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. She moved to Illinois and continued her work at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, Ill. as a neonatal nurse. In 1967 Judy married Ed Marecki, and they would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this May. 

Judy’s greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren Sydney, Ellie, Seth, Jake and Preskitt. Her other great love was gardening and she helped beautify her hometown as a member of the Barrington Garden Club. She won several awards for her spectacular orchids.

Judy was preceded in death by her father Miles Preskitt. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Preskitt, her sister Jo Maxson, her husband Ed Marecki, her children Mara Feldman, Manya Riddle and Tasha Marshall and her sons-in-law Stuart Feldman, Donald Riddle and Robert Marshall.

A Funeral Mass service will be held Friday, May 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church In Barrington.
