The fourth annual Bristol Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary Community Aid Drive “Kickoff to Christmas” will take place on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Jacky’s Galaxie. According to founder Jennifer Mancieri, the event could be “the biggest and best ever.”

“It seems to get bigger and bigger every year,” said Ms. Maniceri, who credits her committee for making this event such a tremendous community success. “Everyone has pitched in to make this such a great event.”
All donations benefit Bristol Warren Regional School District families in need this holiday season.

“This is a free event with donation of non-perishable food items, new unwrapped toys, or new/gently used clothes,” said Ms. Mancieri. “We’ll also feature a musical performance by Jon Tyler, and Christmas carols from members of the Bristol Theatre Company.”

In addition, there will be face painting, arts and crafts, and a balloon artist. And, naturally, the children will be waiting patiently for an appearance by Santa (Michael Rielly).

Among those assisting Ms. Mancieri with this year’s event are Rena Thurston, Melanie Wolfe, and Mary Martins.

“This is a department-wide event,” noted Ms. Mancieri. “We couldn’t do this without members of the Bristol Fire Dept., Bristol Police Dept., Fire Police, and Rescue, as well as all the women in the Ladies Auxiliary. A lot of Giving Trees will also be located in various locations throughout Bristol and Warren. The Town of Warren EMS is also collecting toys for this event.”

Families are asked to bring the children by 5 p.m. that evening so they won’t miss Santa’s grand arrival outside Jacky’s Galaxie.

Ms. Mancieri mentioned that the music group, “Joyride,” will be doing their part to help children less fortunate. The group will be performing Dec. 1, at Common Pub, at 9 p.m.

“They’re teaming up with the Ladies Auxiliary for their first Toy Drive,” she said. “All proceeds will benefit children in need in the Bristol/Warren School District. The group will be collecting unopened toys, gift cards, and nonperishable food items at the door. In addition to helping local families, each item donated will get you five raffle tickets. Prizes will include items and gift certificates from local businesses, as well as a few other surprises. Those attending must be present at the time of the drawing to win.”
