The Barrington Preservation Society is sponsoring an historic bike tour of the town.
The bike tour will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon, and is free and open to the public. People who are interested in taking the tour should meet at Police Cove Park — adjacent to County Road and the Barrington River Bridge — at 9:45 a.m.
The tour will include special visits to the town's hidden treasures and share historical information about Barrington, such as:
• How many years did the train run through Barrington?
• How much did it cost to build the town hall?
• Where can you find brick remnants from the former Barrington Brickworks?
• How did Haines Park escape development?
People taking the tour should bring a water bottle and are required to wear bike helmets. Sydney Montstream-Quas, the director of the award-winning East Bay Bike Path historic signs project, will lead the tour.

The rain date for the event is Aug. 5.
