Letter: Appalled and disappointed by last week’s article

To the editor:

I am writing this letter concerning the article in last week's Times concerning the vandalism at Sherwood park.

I am appalled and disappointed by the content of the article on numerous fronts.

These individuals were not knuckleheads or misguided people — they need to be described what they were — vandals. The destructive acts were premeditated and well planned — bringing spray paint.

The article spent more time discussing the damage to the fields and repeated damage to the porta-potties than the anti-semitic graffiti and drawing of the swastika on the wall.

In these times of increasing anti-semitic rhetoric these overt acts need to be discussed and not tolerated. The Little League and town official only addressed the the damage to the field. This would have been an excellent opportunity for a discussion in our town concerning anti-semitism and violation of public property.

These vandals need to be prosecuted properly and not simply slapped on their wrists .
