To the editor:
As a board member of the Friends of the Barrington Public Library, I have been fortunate to have participated in an organization that since the 1980s has supported the continuous growth of our outstanding community library. For many years, hundreds of Friends volunteers have worked proudly to raise money to fund many of the library’s programs and services that have always been open to all people in the communities we serve.
Our community library in Barrington typifies the historic tradition of public libraries throughout our country. Since its founding, Barrington’s library has served as an essential source of free information, education, and entertainment to the full diversity of individuals and groups who enter its doors. The Barrington Public Library has become the multi-cultural hub of our community. Kris Chin, the library’s current director, and her excellent staff continue to lead Barrington library’s proud tradition of growth and service to all.
