Members of wedding party receive threatening letter

Police join forces with US Postal Inspector on investigation

Posted

A Barrington resident contacted police on Tuesday, Dec. 18, after receiving a strange and disturbing letter in the mail.

Barrington Police said more than a dozen people who had attended a specific wedding about four years ago received the same letter — it allegedly threatened one individual who was involved in the wedding.

On Wednesday, Dec. 19, a separate Barrington resident contacted police after receiving a copy of the threatening letter. The second Barrington resident had also been involved in the wedding four years ago.

Barrington police worked with a US Postal Inspector and have also been communicating with law enforcement in Massachusetts. Barrington police said they have identified a person of interest in the case.
