Moms support Red Flag bill
On Thursday, April 12, the Rhode Island chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America held its fourth annual Lobby Day at the RI State House. This year's Lobby Day focused on supporting a Red Flag bill.
Moms Demand Action volunteers are working to make sure legislators prioritize passing a strong Red Flag law in Rhode Island this year to help prevent mass shootings and help reduce firearm suicide.
When a person is in crisis, loved ones are often the first to see warning signs that he or she poses a threat. Red Flag laws empower families to work with law enforcement to petition for a court order that removes guns from a dangerous situation.
On Thursday, the House passed the Red Flag bill with a party-line vote. Next, the bill moves to the Senate.
