The Town of Barrington recently announced the start of public voting in the town’s logo contest.
Residents submitted the six designs being considered. They were selected from more than 100 entries. The voting will remain open through Friday, March 1.
The public can view the designs and vote online at https://forms.office.com/g/X7sZ3h6Nqk or via the QR code. Voters can view each logo in black and white and in color, as well as photo illustrations showing how they would appear on banners, merchandise, and more.
Town officials solicited designs from current and former Barrington residents. After receiving the design submissions, the town’s review committee selected the design finalists. The six artists then worked with a graphic designer to update their design to meet the town’s needs. The vote will include the edited version of each logo.
“We have many talented artists in our town and across the state,” said Barrington Town Manager Phil Hervey. “A special thank you to everyone who submitted a design, as well as committee members for their valuable time. We are looking forward to seeing what residents choose.”
The purpose of the logo is to complement, not replace, the Barrington Town Seal.
Town officials will announce the winner in early March. The winner will be highlighted on the Town of Barrington’s website, recognized at an announcement ceremony, and awarded a $500 cash prize, along with merchandise featuring the new Town logo. Each runner-up will receive a $100 cash prize.
Prior to the contest, the town solicited input on the current seal from residents through an online survey. More than 150 responses were collected, and 54 percent of the respondents indicated that they preferred a seal that omitted the coat of arms, while 42 percent said they wanted to maintain the coat of arms.
In 2023, the Town Council authorized the Town Manager to move forward with the contest. Questions about the contest can be sent to info@barrington.ri.gov
