Off-duty police officer's car struck by passing car

Posted

Barrington Police received a 911 call at 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, for an auto accident on County Road near the Barrington Congregational Church.

Officers responded to the scene and found a car that had collided with a utility pole. Police spoke with the motorist, a 65-year-old woman, who said she had fallen asleep at the wheel.

An off-duty police officer stopped at the scene to offer assistance. He parked his car and exited the vehicle, which was then struck by another car. Police issued a citation to that motorist for two traffic violations. The officer was not injured.
