An employee at the Bayside YMCA contacted police on Sunday, Dec. 23, at about 12:30 p.m. to report a suspicious person at the establishment.
The YMCA employee told police he was working at the front desk at about 11 a.m. when a Barrington woman entered and began asking him strange questions.
The YMCA employee said the woman, a Rumstick Road resident, first asked if the YMCA allowed non-Christians to join or take swim lessons. The employee said the YMCA did not discriminate, and allowed people of all backgrounds to join.
The woman then allegedly asked the man about the percentage of YMCA members who were Christian and later asked if the YMCA discriminated against non-Christians.
The man was about to answer the woman, but she quickly exited the building.
The YMCA employee told police that the local non-profit has had past run-ins with the woman, the last one being about two years ago.
