Fraudulent script used to purchase Oxycodone

Posted

Barrington Police are investigating a fake prescription passed at the CVS Pharmacy in the Barrington Shopping Center last weekend.

Police received a phone call from an employee at the CVS on Sunday, Oct. 1 at about 3 p.m. The employee told police that someone had used a fake prescription online to purchase Oxycodone pills.

The store later contacted the doctor whose information had been included on the fake script. That doctor, police said, had no idea who had filed the script. It appears the fraudulent prescription was part of a larger incident — the doctor said fake prescriptions had been sent to dozens of pharmacies across the state recently.

The CVS employee said they had security camera footage of the person who came into the Barrington store to pick up the fraudulent prescription.
