Barrington Police are trying to find the owner of a male tortoiseshell cat that was found on a Mayfield Drive resident's porch on Thursday, Feb. 28.

Police said the resident spotted the cat laying on his deck and bleeding from his head.

The department's animal control officer arrived and brought the cat to the Riverside Animal Hospital for treatment. The cat was wearing a flea collar.

Anyone with more information about the cat or its owner should call police at 437-3930.

Attempted break-in

Barrington Police responded to a Henry Drive home on Thursday, Feb. 28, for an attempted break-in.

Police said that when the resident arrived home after 2 p.m. he noticed pry marks on front door and a window screen. The resident also spotted footprints in the snow leading up to the home.

The homeowner told police nothing was missing and it appeared that the culprit was not able to get inside the home. Police spoke with neighbors, but no one saw anything suspicious.
