Barrington Police charged four Barrington teenagers with possession of alcohol by an underage person following an incident late Friday night, July 14.

According to Barrington Police, an officer was on routine patrol at about 11:30 p.m. when he spotted four teens on the Rhode Island Country Club golf course in the area of Middle Highway and North Lake Drive.

The officer walked over to the teenagers and spoke to them — police said the teens told the officer they were doing some night putting. Police said the teenagers had some glow-in-the-dark golf balls.

During his investigation, the police officer noticed some bikes and a moped nearby and later allegedly found some alcoholic beverages (a 30-pack of beer and some spiked iced teas) on the seventh hole. Police said the alcohol belonged to the four teenagers.

Police said one of the 17-year-olds gave the officer a fake name and was subsequently charged with obstructing an officer in the line of duty.

Police charged all four juveniles with possession of alcohol by an underage person and later released them to their parents. All the cases were referred to Barrington Municipal Court.
