Snapchat scare: Man sends explicit video to Barrington girl

Two Barrington girls targeted; police trying to track down suspect

Posted

A Barrington resident and her 11-year-old daughter contacted police on Thursday, Oct. 5, after the girl received a video on Snapchat of a man exposing himself.

Police said the girl had received a message from the man — the user name was Ryan Daniel 0176 — and conversed with him for a short time. Then he reportedly sent her an explicit video.

Police also received a second report on the same day for a similar incident from another 11-year-old girl in Barrington.

The second incident did not involve a video, but the victim told police that while conversing with "Ryan Daniel 0176," the talk quickly turned perverted. He reportedly asked for nude pictures.

The victim blocked the user from further contact. Police are working to identify the suspect. Anyone who may have had a similar experience is asked to call police at 437-3930.
